City winger to be left out

Kevin De Bruyne could be a shock starter omission from Sunday's top-four clash with Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium.

The Belgium international midfielder has been suffering from both fatigue and a loss of form in recent weeks.

City boss Pep Guardiola attempted to hand the 25-year-old a rest in the recent FA Cup tie away to Huddersfield Town by dropping him to the bench at the Kirklees Stadium.

De Bruyne, however, continued to show signs of the busy fixture list catching up with him in a lethargic showing during Wednesday night's Champions League exit to Monaco.

Yaya Toure did not take to the pitch in the Principality and is on stand-by should Guardiola make the judgement call after today's final training session.
