Hughes signs Brazilian star
Man City, Updated:
Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Brazilian striker Jo for an undisclosed fee from CSKA Moscow.
The 21-year-old, who is thought to have cost City a club record fee, becomes Mark Hughes' first signing since taking over at Eastlands with Jo penning a four-year contract.
The striker helped CSKA win four trophies in three years and is now looking to make an impact in the Premier League, after rejecting the chance to join Spanish side Valencia.
The player revealed: "I decided to come to Manchester City because it is one of the clubs who showed more interest in me, although I had other offers as well.
"After I spoke to the manager I was very pleased. I was told Manchester City is a club going forward at the moment.
"We can go places, that is our objective. We thought about it and I decided to come to Manchester City for that reason."
