Rigg reveals Benfica duo interest
Man City, Latest news update:
Manchester City's technical director Mike Rigg has confirmed the club are interested in Benfica duo Angel di Maria and Oscar Cardozo.
The big spending Eastlands outfit are already being linked with a vast array of quality players ahead of the summer transfer window which is set to be a hectic time for manager Roberto Mancini as he looks to push the club to the next level of fighting it out for the Premier League title. City could also be in the Champions League if they successfully secure a fourth placed finish this term.
And it appears that a swoop for 22-year-old Argentina international left winger Di Maria and Paraguay forward Cardozo could definitely be on the cards after Rigg revealed that the pair had caught their eye this season.
"Di Maria and Cardozo are two excellent players, very strong in their respective positions, and highly-rated in the international market," Rigg told the Daily Telegraph.
"It is logical that a club like Manchester City have to be attentive to players with such potential. Di Maria and Cardozo are two fantastic players."
It is thought a deal for Di Maria could be tricky given that he recently signed a new contract with the Portuguese giants until 2015. However reports claim he has an escape clause of £35 million.
