Txiki impressed by on-loan defender
Man City, Updated:
On-loan Manchester City defender Razak Nuhu has signed a three-year contract extension after impressing Txiki Begiristain last week.
The City director of football watched the 21-year-old Ghanaian in action for Norwegian club Stromsgodset in the Copa del Sol competition in southern Spain and immediately rubber stamped plans to extend his contract.
Razak Nuhu joined City two years ago from the Right to Dream Academy in Ghana, but was immediately loaned out to Stromsgodset to aid his development.
After making his professional debut the season before last, he has gone on to play 35 games in the Norwegian top flight in defence or in a defensive midfield role.
He earned his first call up to the Ghana national team last August and made his Black Stars debut in an international friendly match against China.
Razak could return to City to fight for a regular first team place when his current loan deal at Stromsgodset expires at the end of the season, although that will depend on his chances of obtaining a work permit.
Having missed out on selection for the Africa Cup of Nations, that may not happen now but City have tied him down until 2016 as they continue to monitor his progress.
