Darmian happy with United life

Matteo Darmian has claimed Manchester United now consider him to be "off the market".

The Old Trafford defender was being trailed by a number of clubs in his native Italy, with Juventus and Inter Milan both reportedly making representations to the Red Devils during this summer.

But the 27-year-old has seemingly won over United boss Jose Mourinho with his performances since the back end of last season, due to his ability to play in both of the full-back positions.

Darmian started in the Europa League Final win over Ajax back in May and again in Tuesday's 2-1 Super Cup loss to Real Madrid.

The Italy international still has two years remaining on his present United contract and is happy to stay at the Theatre of Dreams.

"I'm pleased that Manchester United consider me to be off the market, just as I'm pleased by the interest of Italian clubs," the former Torino player said. "In any case, there was nothing concrete, so there's no point talking about the transfer market.

"I see myself at Manchester United, I'm happy here."

Darmian added to Mediaset Premium: "In difficult moments, I always worked hard and tried to take every opportunity I had. Last season I did end up playing my games, it was a good end to the campaign and I am building on that."
