Fitness work for Shaw

Luke Shaw has spent the international break working hard to improve his fitness levels.

The left-back is determined not to be shown the door by Jose Mourinho at the end of the season, having previously listened to the Old Trafford boss suggesting his conditioning is not up to scratch.

Shaw has been a daily attendee at the club's Carrington training complex during the recent domestic hiatus, working closely with the conditioning coaches in the gym.

He has been seen lifting weights and working on a bike, which certainly will not do him any harm in the eyes of his manager and the backroom team.

United took up their option earlier this year to extend Shaw's contract by a further 12 months, although that was seen by many as them ensuring the former Southampton academy graduate, who joined for £28m back in 2014, can't walk away for free next summer.

Mourinho stated after last month's Carabao Cup victory over Burton Albion that the 22-year-old "has to improve" to get into United's starting line-up.

Shaw's intensity level in training certainly seems to suggest the player has knuckled down, having seen how Marouane Fellaini, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Marcos Rojo were all able to change the opinion of the manager through their efforts on the training pitch.
