Scholes key to United form
Man United, Latest news update:
Sir Alex Ferguson believes Paul Scholes' comeback this season has helped boost Manchester United's title bid.
Scholes made a surprise return earlier in the campaign when coming out of retirement and has rolled back the years for the Red Devils in midfield to help inspire them in the title run-in.
He scored United's second goal in the important 2-0 win over QPR on Sunday and afterwards Ferguson lavished praise on the 37-year-old veteran.
"That was a typical Paul Scholes goal," he said.
"He has scored three since he came back into the fold and we have only dropped two points.
"You see the control of the game he has and the way he controlled the tempo of the game. That has never changed. At 37, he is still capable of that.
"He is a great player and integral to what has happened over the past few weeks."
United are now eight points clear of Man City at the top following the win and their local rivals' subsequent defeat at Arsenal, but the Scot insisted there was still work to be done in the run-in.
"I am pleased with our results," he added. "There has been good consistency in our defending and now we are a goal better off and it is a game less.
"There are only six left now. Three at home, three away. Hopefully we can run it out."
