The teenage striker broke records as he finished top scorer in the Sao Paulo state Under-17 championship with 27 goals - attracting interest from a number of top Brazilian and European clubs, including AC Milan, Juventus and Chelsea.
But United, through their association with Desportivo, have already made a big impression on the striker after inviting him over for training sessions in the past 12 months.
Gomes confirmed to Terra Brasil that he will join United when he turns 18 in 2014, saying: "Thanks for the queries from other clubs but I already have plans in Manchester and I want to make history at the club."
Desportivo's talented Under-17 squad won four of the six tournaments they entered this season, adding the state title to their Future Cup Brazil, Copa Ouro and Northern Ireland Milk Cup trophies at the weekend.
Meanwhile, United have included Chilean striker Angelo Henriquez in their squad for the NexLions Cup in Singapore later this month after Sir Alex Ferguson decided to delay his loan to a football league club.
