Saints without Lemina for Spurs game
Mario Lemina will be missing for Southampton’s trip to Tottenham on Wednesday due to suspension.
The Gabon midfielder received his fifth yellow of the campaign in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United and will sit out the trip to Wembley as a result.
Steven Davis and Oriel Romeu are battling it out to deputise for what will be the first game since Ralph Hasenhuttl’s appointment on Wednesday and the Austrian will be in the stands before officially taking over on Thursday.
First-team assistant coach Kelvin Davis will be in the dugout and may decide to stick with the back-three used in Mark Hughes’ final game against United.
That could see Yan Valery retain his spot on the right-hand side and Cedric Soares continuing on the left, with doubts remaining over Matt Targett and Ryan Bertrand.
Michael Obafemi and Danny Ings also have question marks over their fitness, while Shane Long continues to be sidelined.
Therefore Manolo Gabbiadini and Charlie Austin will both be pushing for starts in attack.
