Spurs set to miss defensive duo
Spurs will be without Juan Foyth and Kieran Trippier for Saturday’s trip to Leicester City after both were ruled out through injury.
Argentina centre-back Foyth has a hamstring problem and England right-back Trippier is suffering from a sore groin following Tottenham‘s midweek win over Southampton.
Mauricio Pochettino is expected to rotate his options for the game but is also still without Mousa Dembele (ankle), Erik Lamela (thigh), Davinson Sanchez (hamstring) and Victor Wanyama (knee).
He can call on Jan Vertonghen again, however, after the Belgian served a one-match ban for the red card he received in Sunday’s north London derby.
Pochettino insists his decision to rotate the squad is not motivated by Spurs’ looming make-or-break Champions League clash with Barcelona.
‘The focus for us is to try to win the three points against Leicester – that is the most important game,’ said Pochettino.
‘Next is Barcelona and we are going to maybe rotate some players because they need rest, not because we are going to play in Barcelona Tuesday. That is why.
‘The decision we take is always to try and provide the best for the players. If we detect some players are tired then maybe [it is best] to rest, but we are thinking always about winning the game against Leicester, not the game after.’
