Rudiger back for Blues’ Old Trafford trip
Defender Antonio Rudiger is expected to return to action for Chelsea’s huge Premier League clash at Manchester United on Sunday.
The Germany international missed the recent Europa League win against Slavia Prague and Monday’s 2-2 Premier League draw against Burnley at Stamford Bridge because of a knee injury picked up in the defeat at Liverpool on April 14.
However, boss Maurizio Sarri has confirmed he is ‘okay’ to return against the Red Devils as the Blues look to cement their place in the top-four at the expense of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s faltering side.
Combative midfielder N’Golo Kante is doubtful, while winger Callum Hudson-Odoi is out for the rest of the season after having surgery on his Achilles.
Sarri is disappointed to lose the England international but has backed him to ‘recover well’ from the injury.
He added: ‘The operation of Callum went in the right way.
I think that he will be back here in one or two days.
‘He’ll need time now but Callum is a very strong young man.
Very strong physically and very strong mentally.
‘I’m sure he’ll be able to come back better than before.’
