Spurs boss undecided on Kane start
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino says he has yet to decide whether or not Harry Kane will start Saturday’s Champions League final.
Kane has been absent since sustaining an ankle injury in the 1-0 win over Manchester City in April in the quarter-finals of Europe’s top competition.
The England international has now recovered and is in the squad for Saturday’s final, but Pochettino says he is still undecided as to whether or not Kane will start against Liverpool in Madrid.
‘I told before, they [the players] don’t know,’ he told reporters when asked if Kane would start.
‘We have one training session now and then we decide.
‘ On his team selection, he said: ‘It’s difficult, you need to take a decision and tomorrow is another decision.
We have all the information, we will use every detail to try to win.
‘You can use only 11 players from the beginning – that is the most painful situation.
‘The whole squad will be on the pitch before the game tomorrow.
‘Tomorrow is to show togetherness.
Tomorrow will show football is a collective sport, the energy even from the players who do not play in the dressing room will be decisive.
‘Respect must be massive for the players who are going to be selected.
It is always a tough decision but it’s part of my job.
‘ Midfielder Harry Winks is also available again, having picked up a groin injury in the same game as Kane.
If Kane does start Lucas Moura could be the man who drops to the bench from the team that beat Ajax 3-2 in the second leg of the semi-finals, despite scoring a hat-trick in Amsterdam.
