Austria and Northern Ireland are both aiming for their first points in the UEFA Nations League when they clash in Vienna on Friday.

Both nations were beaten by Bosnia-Herzegovina in their Nations League debuts last month and Friday’s clash provides them with an opportunity to get points on the board.

Austria have only tasted victory once in their last three outings, and have failed to score in two of them, although they tend to be pretty strong on their own patch.

Indeed, they have only lost one of their last 11 on home soil and will feel confident of coming out on top at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion.

Franco Foda is expected to field a very strong starting XI with the likes of Marco Arnautovic and David Alaba in the mix.

Meanwhile, Michael O’Neill’s men are looking to address their issues on the road after going four games without a win, while they have been unable to hit the back of the net in as many matches away from Belfast.

O’Neill has hinted at experimenting as he looks to find a winning formula for the rest of the Nations League campaign.

Paddy McNair could be handed a new role at right wing-back as O’Neill looks to bring introduce a more attacking approach.

The absence of Kyle Lafferty and Conor Washington has left O’Neill with a selection headache in the frontline and he could turn to newcomer Kyle Vassell.

Austria claimed a comfortable 2-0 victory when they last hosted Northern Ireland in 2005 as part of their World Cup qualifying campaign.
