Manchester United v Crystal Palace

Match Previews

A very young Manchester United side will take to the field against Crystal Palace, ahead of their Europa League final on Wednesday.

Jose Mourinho has complained on several occasions that the powers that be should have done more to help his injury-hit team to prepare for their midweek European final.

The United boss has already admitted that he will rest a number of his first-team squad with several youth team players set to be handed their debuts.

One of the senior players who could feature is Paul Pogba, who returns to the squad having missed the last two games following the death of his father.

United, who have collected their fewest victories in a Premier League season – even with a win today, are set to be without Marouane Fellaini and Chris Smalling, who are both injury concerns. Mourinho has suggested that young goalkeeper Joel Pereira will be given his Premier League debut.

Meanwhile, Palace will head to Old Trafford knowing that their top-flight status is safe following last week’s 4-0 win over Hull City.

The Eagles have lost on their last nine trips to Old Trafford, but they have been in decent form on the road of late – winning four of their last seven away league fixtures, which includes victories at Chelsea and Liverpool.

Allardyce expects James Tomkins to be fit following a recent ankle injury, but Palace could be without Yohan Cabaye, who is still struggling with a foot problem. Andros Townsend is definitely out of today’s game due to an Achilles injury.
