Southampton 1-1 Huddersfield Town
Southampton and Huddersfield both laboured to a 1-1 stalemate at St Mary’s on the final day of the Premier League season.
It was the hosts who broke the deadlock on Sunday just before half-time and it was a moment of individual brilliance from Nathan Redmond that opened the scoring.
The attacker cut in from the left flank before lashing a curling effort into the top-right corner from outside of the area.
Huddersfield were gifted an equaliser on 55 minutes with a mistake that Angus Gunn will not want to see again in hurry.
The highly-rated Saints keeper was far too lax in possession and Alex Pritchard snatched the ball from the keeper’s feet before tapping the ball home into an empty net.
Neither side managed to find a way to break the stalemate before the full-time whistle and the spoils were shared, as Huddersfield finished with a point on the road before life back in the Championship next season.
