Liverpool 2-2 Young Boys
Match Reports, Updated:
Liverpool suffered a Europa League qualification blow as Young Boys twice came from behind to earn a late point at Anfield.
The home side started well and took the lead in the 32nd minute, when Jonjo Shelvey headed home from close range after a chipped cross from the impressive Joe Cole.
Young Boys responded well at the start of the second half though and equalised on 52 minutes, when Argentine striker Raul Bobadilla fired a fierce left-footed shot across Pepe Reina and into the far corner to stun the Anfield crowd.
Liverpool came again and good interplay between substitutes Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard played in Cole, who turned in the box and fired in left footed.
A win would have seen the Reds qualify from the group, but with just two minutes to go, a powerful shot from Elsad Zverotic from outside the area flew into the roof of Reina's net.
The result now means Brendan Rodgers' men need to avoid defeat away to Udinese in their final group game to stand a chance of progressing.
