Watford 2-2 Southampton

Match Report

Abdoulaye Doucoure scored controversially in injury time as Watford fought back from two goals down to earn a point against Southampto.

The away side started the better and were rewarded after 20 minutes, when Shane Long’s cross was deflected into the path of James Ward-Prowse who coolly found the bottom corner.

Mauricio Pellegrino’s side doubled their lead just before the interval when, after a quick counter attack, Dusan Tadic found Ward-Prowse with a slide-rule pass and the midfielder slammed home his second.

The home side were back in the game just before the hour mark, Andre Gray heading home from close range after the Saints failed to clear the danger.

Marco Silva’s side kept pushing forward and they were rewarded in the 90th minute when substitute Troy Deeney nodded the ball down for Doucoure, who appeared to use his hand to beat Alex McCarthy from close range.
