Wigan Athletic 2-2 Queens Park Rangers

James McCarthy's double earned Wigan a point in a game they should have claimed all three.

The game was a rather scrappy affair to start with before Wigan took the lead in the 19th minute, when McCarthy scored with a shot from 18 yards that took a deflection off Jamie Mackie.

The away side, still looking for their first league win of the season, equalised six minutes later, when Ryan Nelsen, who had a great game, powered in a header from a corner.

After the break, Wigan were by far the better side, creating the most chances, but they went behind in the 71st minute when substitute Djibril Cisse slotted in Shaun Wright-Phillips' ball.

QPR though didn't hold on to the lead for very long as MacCarthy got his second of the match, when he prodded home from Jean Beausejour's cross.
