Gomis on Toon radar

Newcastle are set to turn their attentions to Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis after Loic Remy opted to join Queens Park Rangers.
The Magpies thought they had wrapped up a deal for Remy after Marseille accepted their offer of £8.2million but Rangers matched it and the striker has opted for Loftus Road instead.
The news comes as a big blow to Alan Pardew, who is desperate to replace Demba Ba, but the Toon boss did have a contingency plan in place and will now switch to other targets.
Reports in France claim Pardew will now move for Gomis, who could be on the move from Lyon before the window closes. Chelsea and Liverpool have also been linked so Pardew will have to move quickly if he is to strike a deal for the 27-year-old.
Yoan Gouffran could be another option as Newcastle have watched him in action in recent weeks and have been impressed with his eight goals so far this season.
The 26-year-old would be available on a free in the summer but could still be picked up for a bargain price as Bordeaux look to recoup some cash this month.
