Injured Colback sent home
Newcastle have concerns over the fitness of Jack Colback, who has been sent home from England duty with a calf problem.
Colback did not figure as England defeated Norway at Wembley on Wednesday night and coach Roy Hodgson revealed after the game that he was struggling with a calf injury picked up in training.
The midfielder has now returned to St James' Park for treatment, meaning he will also sit out England's game against Switzerland on Monday night.
"Jack Colback has had to leave us," Hodgson revealed. "He took a very nasty kick on the back of the calf. We were hoping he would train with us but he can't do that, so it is better to send him back to Newcastle."
Colback now faces a race against time to make the trip to Southampton on September 13 and Alan Pardew will be praying he makes it as he also has doubts over Cheick Tiote and Siem de Jong.
