Midfielder linked to ex-manager reunion

Mohamed Diame is reportedly keen on a reunion with Steve Bruce at Aston Villa after growing frustrated with life at Newcastle United.

The Mirror claim the Senegal international is unhappy with the lack of regular first-team football he has been getting under Rafa Benitez and that he is keen on a move away from the club.

Villa boss Bruce knows him well from their time together at Hull City - where Diame scored the Wembley play-off final winner that took the Tigers back to the Premier League in 2016.

Despite being excellent for the Magpies in the Championship last term, the 30-year-old has made just seven appearances all season since promotion back to the top-flight.

And he was involved in a training ground bust-up with club skipper Jamaal Lascelles last month, which later saw both players apologise to the fans.
