Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson says the club are still formulating their plans for the January window.

Despite there being almost two months to go until the window opens, the rumour mill has already started to head towards overdrive with the Eagles reportedly keen on bringing in Arsenal’s Danny Welbeck.

Hodgson worked with Welbeck during his time as England boss and the 27-year-old’s lack of regular football has prompted fresh talk of a move away from the Emirates.

With Christian Benteke and Connor Wickham injured, Palace could well enter the market for a striker but the experienced coach has refused to be drawn on speculation, insisting it is too early to earmark specific targets.

Hodgson told reporters: ‘Like all clubs in the Premier League, we are all constantly assessing and looking at players, so that when the day comes, if there is a vacancy and if there is money to spend, you know where to go.

‘We aren’t specifically targeting anything at this moment in time.

‘But I must be perfectly honest with you and say that I haven’t had a serious meeting with the scouting department – they are getting on with their work and we have several meetings scheduled later in November and December.’
