Feyenoord cruise delights boss
Giovanni van Bronckhorst praised his team’s dominant display as they chalked up another win, seeing off VVV-Venlo 4-1 on Thursday.
Goals from Tonny Vilhena, Robin van Persie and a brace from Sam Larsson earned Feyenoord their fifth straight win in all competitions as they stay third in the Eredivisie, five points behind Ajax directly above them and nine adrift of leaders PSV Eindhoven.
Van Bronckhorst had wanted a complete performance from his players and was pleased with what he saw on Thursday.
‘We wanted to get at our opponents from minute one, give them the feeling that they were not going to get anything,’ he said on the club’s website. ‘We certainly managed that.
‘So I’m satisfied not only with the three points, but with the way we played too.’
He added: ‘We really gave VVV the sense that they wouldn’t get anything, although that did not immediately deliver lots of chances. But we knew they would come and that the goals would too.’
