Owls hit by new six-week Forestieri hamstring injury absence
Sheffield Wednesday striker Fernando Forestieri has been ruled out for six weeks because of a torn hamstring.
The 28-year-old suffered the injury after coming off the bench during last Saturday’s 4-2 defeat against Blackburn at Ewood Park.
Forestieri has only started seven matches so far this season because of injury and suspension issues, while he is yet to play in a winning Owls team.
The latest setback means he will miss Saturday’s South Yorkshire derby against Rotherham United and the entire festive schedule.
The news will be a huge blow for under-pressure boss Jos Luhukay, who is also still without forward duo Sam Winnall and Gary Hooper.
