2019 marks return of Ronaldo for Portugal
Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed he will be available for international selection in 2019.
Ronaldo was allowed to miss his country’s Nations League matches last year in order to settle in Turin, having made the summer switch from Real Madrid to Juventus for a reported 100million euros.
During his absence, the 2016 European Champions won three and drew three of their six games since the conclusion of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, booking a spot in the Nations League Finals as a result.
Having settled into life with the Serie A holders, former Manchester United star Ronaldo, who has scored 14 goals from 19 league outings this season, has now revealed he is available to play for Portugal from 2019 onwards.
‘In 2019 I intend to be back at the disposal of the coaching staff,’ he told Record. ‘It was agreed that I would not be in the games of the first half of the season.
‘I am 33 years old, I had just moved from country to country, working methods, team-mates, professional and personal routines. I think it was the best option.’
