Kalu can be a star – Rohr
Nigeria boss Gernot Rohr says Bordeaux winger Samuel Kalu has a bright future at international level, calling him an ‘amazing player’.
Kalu has caught the eye in France this season, with three goals and three assists from 23 appearances so far, and he’s being linked with some of the bigger clubs in Europe as a result.
The 21-year-old was called into the senior Super Eagles set-up last year and has hit the ground running on the international stage, scoring once in five games for his country so far.
Rohr has been impressed with Kalu when he’s worked with him and believes he has a very bright future.
He said: ‘He’s an amazing player. He’s integrated into my team as if he’s always been there. He has intrinsic qualities – he is fast and has ability to defend.
‘We played 3-5-2 in South Africa where he scored our only goal, while managing to defend very well.
‘He knows how to attack but he never hesitates to fall back to the defence. In the team, he can also play on the left wing when playing 4-2-3-1.’
