Marc Albrighton says negotiations over a new contract with Leicester were straightforward after he penned a deal until June 2022.

The 29-year-old has been on the books at the King Power Stadium since joining on a free transfer from Aston Villa and has been a huge hit amongst the Foxes faithful.

Albrighton was a key part of the Leicester side that lifted the Premier League title in 2015/16 and scored the club’s first ever Champions League goal against Club Brugge the following season.

The winger continues to be a regular under current boss Claude Puel, taking his appearance tally to 173 this season, and he is delighted to have committed his long-term future to the club.

“It was totally straightforward,” said Albrighton. “Leicester offered me a deal and I was always going to sign it. I’ve had some good times here and hopefully I can continue to do so.

“When I first signed, I looked at the squad that was in the dressing room and the club itself in terms of its fanbase and what sort of club it was. It was a family club back then and it’s a family club now.

“It’s something that suits me down to the ground. It really fit in well with me as a person and it’s the perfect fit for me.’
