Bordeaux seal Maja transfer
Forward Josh Maja has completed his move from Sunderland to Bordeaux, penning a four-and-a-half-year deal with the Ligue 1 side.
The 20-year-old refused the offer of a new deal with the Black Cats earlier in January and has opted to thrown his lot in with the mid-table French club for a fee that could rise to £3.5m. The London-born youngster, who had been at the Stadium of Light since 2015 and came through the club’s academy, has severed ties with the Wearsiders and will now ply his trade at Matmut Atlantique. Les Girondins will hope for a similar goal return to the one Maja showed with Sunderland this term, with 15 goals from 24 League One appearances. Premier League sides Cardiff and Crystal Palace were also linked to the youngster although Bordeaux managed to steal a march on them both.
