Latics boss happy to take a point from Millers clash

Wigan manager Paul Cook was delighted to take a point away from Rotherham following a 1-1 draw between two struggling sides.

Clark Robertson gave the home side the lead on 28 minutes with a powerful header, but Wigan were soon back on level terms thanks to a strike from Josh Windass four minutes later.

Cook felt his side’s leveller came at the perfect time and was pleased with his side’s character as they dug in to claim a share of the points. ‘I think when Rotherham scored there was only going to be one result,’ Cook said.

‘Credit to Rotherham, they were nearly unplayable at times in the first half. We could not keep them off us. ‘We didn’t get a foothold in the game but we scored against the run of play.

That’s football and you go in at half-time thankful that you’re still in the game. A lot of teams would have gone under today. ‘I don’t think it was a great game to watch. Rotherham put a lot of balls into our box and we had to defend for our lives. Rotherham were excellent in the first half. ‘It was a difficult day for us but I am delighted with the point.’
