Benitez not won over by signings
Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez says he is still not sure what his future holds, despite completing some deadline day deals.
The Spaniard has been battling with owner Mike Ashley ever since he agreed to take over the north-east outfit in March 2016.
Benitez has publicly voiced his frustrations at a lack of financial support and feels the squad is lacking depth.
He did manage to get two deals through on the final day of the January transfer window as Newcastle paid a club-record fee for Miguel Almiron, while they also added Antonio Barreca on loan from Monaco.
Despite the new arrivals, Benitez, who is out of contract in the summer, insists there is still a lot more work to be done until he can make a decision on his future.
‘That [my future] is something we will have plenty of time to talk about,’ Benitez exclusively told Sky Sports.
‘Obviously one or two signings at the end of the transfer window doesn’t change everything.
‘We are a little bit better than before, but we still have to talk about a lot of things if we want to move forward.’
