Barca eye Lyon youngster
Lyon defender Ferland Mendy will reportedly be targeted by Spanish giants Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old has started 21 of Lyon’s 24 Ligue 1 games this season and has been turning heads with his displays at left-back.
Capped once by France, the youngster has bagged two league goals for Les Gones and is seen as a player who could go right to the top.
Whether that is in French football or elsewhere remains to be seem, with Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo suggesting the Catalans are eager to strengthen the left side of defence, with Jordi Alba set to turn 30 in March.
Mendy’s displays have helped Lyon up to third in the top-flight standings and he also played every minute of their Champions League group campaign, which saw the Groupama Stadium outfit qualify second behind Manchester City to earn a last-16 clash with Barca.
The Nou Camp giants will therefore get a chance to see Mendy up close when battle lines are drawn for the first leg on February 19.
