Blind sets sights on Real upset

Daley Blind says Ajax are capable of seeing off holders Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League.

The Dutch outfit are unbeaten in the competition this season – despite facing Bayern Munich twice in the group stages – but Blind is well aware they will need to be on top form if they are to overcome Real across two legs.

However, Blind is convinced Ajax will create chances against Los Blancos and the 28-year-old says they have to make sure they make the most of any opportunities that come their way.

‘Real just remains world class,’ he told Ajax TV.

‘It will not be easy but I think we have a team that can make it difficult for any team.

And we also have a team that creates opportunities in every game.

‘We will have to finish the chances we get and hope that we can achieve a good result at home, so that we can compete in the away match to continue another round.

Ajax have lost two of their last three games but Blind doesn’t think their form is a concern ahead of Real’s visit.

He added: ‘We have to form a unit, that is the medicine to start performing well again.

And we have to trust what we can do.

Let’s start on that Wednesday.’
