Chelsea’s players have held crisis talks following Sunday’s Man City humbling – but boss Maurizio Sarri reportedly still has their support.

The Blues were hammered 6-0, a result which leaves them sixth in the Premier League table and facing a real battle to make the top four.

The manner of the defeat has been heavily criticised and boss Sarri’s future at Stamford Bridge has been called into question, especially as the Etihad mauling came on the back of a shock 4-0 loss at Bournemouth in their previous away game.

There have been suggestions Sarri has lost the dressing room, in a similar way to what happened with previous managers Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

However, reports say the Chelsea players, on the whole, are still supportive of the Italian and his methods.

They held a meeting on Monday to discuss what happened against City and how they intend to put things right.

It is thought Sarri’s position is not under immediate threat and he could keep his job if an improvement is forthcoming.

The Blues take on Malmo twice in the Europa League, Manchester United in the FA Cup and Manchester City in the EFL Cup final over the next fortnight, and good results in those games will ensure he survives.

Sarri is Chelsea‘s 12th different permanent manager since Roman Abramovich took control of the club in 2003.
