Brighton club captain Bruno says he is happy to play his part this season even though he’s not a first-team regular.

The 38-year-old has played a reduced role for Albion, making just eight Premier League appearances so far although he has been selected in all four sides by boss Chris Hughton in the FA Cup.

Bruno has played his part well as Brighton have made it all the way to the quarter-finals following last weekend’s win over Derby, and the defender admits he just enjoys it when he gets his minutes.

He said: ‘For me being on the pitch is the main thing.

I really enjoy playing every minute.

As footballers we work all week to be there.

‘ The experienced defender admitted being part of a cup run has been great and says it’s important to utilise the full depth of the squad at the Amex Stadium.

He added: ‘I’m really enjoying it.

It’s been really good.

We had a good start at Bournemouth and then at West Brom as well.

‘For the players that have not been playing lately and not getting in the starting XI, to have the run and get minutes is really important.

‘We’ve got a really good depth in the squad and that’s what we are looking for now, to have everyone on top of their game.’
