New Colombia manager Carlos Queiroz insists he will be running the rule over Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos in the coming weeks.

Queiroz was handed a three-year contract to manage the South American outfit on February 7 and is currently scouting Colombia’s European-based players ahead of this summer’s Copa America.

The former Real Madrid chief has a number of players to observe and has included Morelas on the list of stars that he will run the rule over.

The Gers’ 23-year-old ace has bagged 27 goals from 39 appearances in all competitions this term but has also been sent off four times.

Nevertheless, Queiroz will watch him play on his trip around Europe’s top leagues.

‘It’s very important to watch and speak to my European-based players and I intend to do that,’ he said.

‘There are others I want to see too like David Ospina from Napoli, Radamel Falcao at Monaco and Alfredo Morelos at Rangers.

‘There isn’t a great deal of time between now and the Copa America in June and we currently only have two games scheduled, so I want to meet as many of the squad as I can.’
