Sousa the choice for Bordeaux
Bordeaux have reportedly offered Portuguese coach Paulo Sousa a three-year contract to succeed Ricardo Gomes as manager.
The Girondins took the decision to axe Brazilian tactician Ricardo after just five months in charge on Tuesday following an underwhelming run of form which has seen the club win one of their last seven matches in all competitions.
Bordeaux are now searching for their third manager of the season having previously dismissed Gus Poyet and are understood to be at an advanced stage of negotiations with Sousa.
The 48-year-old is currently without a club after leaving Chinese outfit Tianjin Quanjian in October but has been mentioned in connection with replacing Eusebio Di Francesco at Roma recently.
With Di Francesco still at the helm in Rome, Bordeaux are hopeful they can swoop in and pick up the former Fiorentina, Swansea and Leicester City boss.
Reports in the French press claiming Sousa has been offered a long-term contract and is now considering his options.
He has informed Bordeaux he would need to bring in his own backroom staff were he to be appointed.
