Dubravka a wanted man – agent
The agent of Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka says his client is garnering interest from clubs around Europe.
Dubravka arrived at St James’ Park from Czech side Sparta Prague in January last season and has quickly established himself as one of the best goalkeepers outside the top six with his solid performances for Rafa Benitez’s side.
Those performances have sparked interest from clubs in Europe, with Juventus one those interested in the 30-year-old, while an unnamed Bundesliga club and a Premier League team are reportedly also said to be in contention.
Dubravka’s preference is to stick with the Magpies but agent Zika says he must be offered a new deal by the Newcastle hierarchy to guarantee his stay.
“We can confirm that Martin belongs to the Juventus Scout Department’s list of long-term players,” Zika said.
“Our effort, but also Newcastle’s endeavour, is to negotiate a new contract at the end of this season, as Martin came to Newcastle as a virtually unknown Czech league player, but quickly became a major player of the entire team and already has an excellent reputation throughout the English league.
“So we are gradually starting to negotiate an improved contract, but of course, on the other hand, we record interest from a number of other clubs in the English league.”
