Omar Bogle finds his shooting boots for Portsmouth
Omar Bogle changed his boots at half-time and fired Portsmouth to a 2-0 win against Scunthorpe.
Pompey had the best of the first-half chances, with Lee Brown firing wide from 30 yards before Jamal Lowe sent a curling effort over the crossbar shortly afterwards.
Tony McMahon had the Iron’s first shot on target after 18 minutes but it was easily saved by Craig McGillivray.
Lowe was then thwarted by a block after rounding goalkeeper Jak Alnwick before being unable to steer home from a tight angle with the goal gaping.
Pompey came out strongest in the second half but had to wait until 71 minutes to break the deadlock.
A Brown free-kick landed at the feet of Ben Close and then Bogle who fired the ball into the bottom corner with a clever shot on the spin.
Lowe made the points safe when he ran at the visitors, feinted one way then another and finished with a powerful shot into the top corner from an angle.
