Monaco set for Martins battle
Monaco will reportedly face a fight to keep hold of loan signing Gelson Martins, with Arsenal still interested.
Martins was linked with a move to the Gunners in January but they failed with a loan bid.
The Portugal international decided to join Ligue 1 side Monaco instead but Arsenal found a suitable replacement in Denis Suarez.
However, Martins remains on Arsenal’s radar and reports claim Unai Emery is eager to get the deal done as soon as the current campaign comes to an end.
Monaco had been hoping to tie him down to a permanent deal after his impressive displays but it appears that the French outfit now face a real battle to try and negotiate a deal with parent club Atletico Madrid.
It is also understood Atletico would be reluctant to part with Martins permanently so Monaco’s best hope of bringing him back next term may be another loan deal.
