Scunthorpe sack Stuart McCall
Scunthorpe have sacked manager Stuart McCall after Saturday’s defeat by Rochdale left the club in relegation trouble.
The 3-1 loss at Spotland saw the Iron slip to within two points of the drop zone.
It was a sixth defeat in their last nine Sky Bet League One matches.
First-team coach Andy Dawson will be in caretaker charge for Scunthorpe’s remaining seven games of the campaign.
A brief statement on the club’s official website read: ‘Scunthorpe have parted company with first-team manager Stuart McCall.
Andy Dawson will be caretaker manager for the rest of the season.
‘ McCall became manager at Glanford Park in August after Nick Daws was sacked just four matches into the season.
A run of five victories in six had Scunthorpe in mid-table at the end of January, but just two wins since means they have dropped to 18th in the table.
