Massimiliano Allegri says he will rest a number of his first-team stars when Juventus visit SPAL in Serie A on Saturday.

The Old Lady can wrap up an eighth-successive Scudetto by claiming a point from their trip to the Stadio Paolo Mazza, but the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Leonardo Bonucci are likely to be rested, as the game comes in between the two legs of Juve’s Champions League quarter-final tie with Ajax.

Allegri is certainly not planning to take any risks with his first-team stars and he has faith that the players that come in will have enough quality to get the job done.

‘I have to evaluate today’s training session, but many first-teamers will rest,’ Allegri said at his pre-match press conference.

‘There are players who need to rest.

And maybe it’ll be an opportunity for some young players.

‘ The 51-year-old also confirmed that any potential title celebrations will be put on hold until after Tuesday’s return leg against Ajax – as that tie remains delicately poised at 1-1.

He added: ‘Any Scudetto celebrations will be postponed until after Juventus-Ajax.

Tomorrow could be an extraordinary day.’
