Zidane expects summer exodus

Zinedine Zidane expects a number of Real Madrid's first-team players to leave the club this summer.

Zinedine Zidane expects a number of Real Madrid’s first-team players to leave the club this summer.

After winning four Champions League titles in five years, Real have endured a disappointing campaign this year, suffering an early exit from Europe’s premier club competition and failing to mount a serious title challenge in La Liga.

Los Blancos are expected to invest heavily in the transfer market this summer, with the likes of Paul Pogba and Eden Hazard having been consistently linked with moves to the Bernabeu.

However, in order to make room for some new acquisitions, Real seem likely to offload a number of first-team players.

Isco and Toni Kroos have recently been linked with the summer exit door, while there is also consistent speculation surrounding the futures of Gareth Bale, Raphael Varane and Karim Benzema.

Zidane, who returned to the club as manager for a second spell in charge last month, has now confirmed that he expects there to be a number of departures from the club come the end of the season, but he would not give away the names of any individuals.

‘There are many players here that can be sold – because they are all really good,’ Zidane told reporters ahead of Real’s trip to Leganes in La Liga on Monday.

‘Many clubs want Real Madrid players that is nothing new.’
