Cook hails Cherries display
Bournemouth defender Steve Cook believes the win over Brighton was vital to keep them out of the relegation scrap in the Premier League.
The defender returned to the side for the first time since February at Brighton where the Cherries hit top gear and racked up their biggest away win in the Premier League.
Cook says the victory was vital in order to keep Eddie Howe’s side away from the relegation places and they now have 41 points, 13 clear of the drop zone.
The 27-year-old admits the result was timely and has praised the ‘ruthless’ way his side picked apart the Seagulls.
He said: ‘It was a win that we needed.
If results went against us, we could’ve been dragged back into the relegation fight.
‘I feel that we were desperate to win.
We had to win.
They (Brighton) maybe wanted to win – I think that was the difference.
‘We were ruthless.’
