Solskjaer wants Sanchez to prove his point
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer expects the returning Alexis Sanchez to have a point to prove against Barcelona on Tuesday.
Chile international Sanchez has been sidelined since the beginning of March with a knee injury, but he has travelled with the rest of the United squad for the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at the Nou Camp.
United have work to do during Tuesday’s match, as they trail 1-0 from the first leg, but Sanchez will require no extra motivation if called upon, as he is a former Barcelona player having spent three seasons with the club before leaving for Arsenal in 2014.
Solskjaer certainly expects Sanchez to be motivated against his former employers, while he also feels the 30-year-old will have a point to prove to United fans, following an underwhelming campaign to date.
‘Alex has been here and played here so it’s a big night for him,’ Solskjaer said at his pre-match press conference.
‘When he’s on the pitch, I’m sure he wants to prove a point.
‘He wants to prove a point for us as well, because he’s been injured, he’s not had a fantastic season so far and let’s hope he can end it great for us because we are at the business end.
‘Let’s hope Alexis, when he’s on the pitch, can be happy with his performance.’
