Pulis – We need a change of direction

Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis claims the club needs to head in a new direction, regardless of what division they play in next season.

Pulis’ men go into the final weekend of the season with a chance of finishing in the play-offs but do need other results to go their way.

They sit seventh, one point behind sixth-placed Derby County, while Bristol City are also still in contention.

Boro have been known to spend heavily in the last decade but Pulis believes a new approach is needed, even if they reach the promised land of the Premier League.

He told the Gazette Live: ‘The club has to be redirected in certain ways, it has to be.

‘It can’t keep (responding) to a certain group of supporters who just want that, that and that.

Or another group of supporters who want that, that and that.

The club has to say, ‘This is what we’re doing, this is how we’re going to do it’.

‘There’s too many clubs now just chasing around trying to keep everybody happy.

And in the end, not getting what it’s all about.

‘ Boro play Rotherham United in their final league match, while Derby face play-off bound West Bromwich Albion and Bristol travel to Hull City.
