Everton planning surprise double Swans raid
Everton want to sign Swansea pair Dan James and Matt Grimes in the summer, according to reports.
The duo have been mightily impressive for Swansea this season as Graham Potter’s young side sealed a top-10 Championship finish on the final day of the season thanks to a draw against Blackburn Rovers.
However, the Swans have had to deal with cutbacks to the squad this season due to financial restrictions, despite bagging the parachute payments that come with being relegated from the Premier League.
Reports now suggest they may have to cash in on two more of their prized assets with James and Grimes potentially set for departures.
Wales international winger James came close to joining Leeds United on the previous transfer deadline day but Swansea pulled out at the last minute, while former England Under-21 midfielder Grimes has been a virtual ever-present this season.
Everton are said to be looking to sign the duo in the summer as Marco Silva wants to add fresh British talent going into his second season with the club.
James, in particular, could be available for a cut-price deal with the pacy winger’s contract due to expire next season, and no new one being agreed.
