Gunners out of race to sign Lille ace
Arsenal are out of the running to sign Lille winger Nicolas Pepe this summer as they cannot afford the £69million asking price.
Lille are coming to terms with the fact they will probably have to cash in on the player during the close season as Europe’s top clubs start to circulate.
But they will not let him leave on the cheap and reports in France claim it will take a fee of £69million to prize him away, a figure too rich for the Gunners.
Arsenal boss Unai Emery will have to work to a strict budget and, with a number of players needed, he cannot spend it all on one signing.
Even though Arsenal are out of the running, Lille still face a fight to keep hold of Pepe as fellow English Premier League sides Manchester United and Liverpool are known to be keen and both have the money to wrap up a deal.
