Robben eager to finish on a high
Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben says he cannot wait for his final three games with the club as he prepares to bow out in style.
The 35-year-old has been at Bayern for a decade but is now set to move on for a new challenge in the summer.
Robben has made 199 Bundesliga appearances for the Bavarians but injuries have played their part over recent seasons, although he has managed to overcome a five-month battle against numerous problems to return before the end of the campaign.
Bayern still need to wrap up the league title and they play RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt in their final two league games, before they then take on the former in the DFB Pokal final.
Robben stepped off the bench against Hannover last week and the Dutchman says he is ready to end his Bayern career in style.
He told Bundesliga.
com: ‘I have had 10 unbelievably nice years here and I want to enjoy the last few games before it is all over.
‘I’m really looking forward to them [the last games], and I fought and trained hard to be back.
I’ve said it already – and I remain convinced – that I’m not here just to say goodbye and to stand on the pitch waving at the fans.
‘I still want to contribute to the team, and I’m sure I can do that.
The injury can’t be an excuse now either, even though you would usually say: five months out, so I’ll have to work my way back slowly.
That doesn’t matter at the moment, so I have to be prepared mentally.
I’m prepared, and if I’m needed we’ll see what I can do.’
