PSV slip lets Ajax in for title
Ajax are set to be Dutch champions after a 4-1 win over FC Utrecht moved them three points clear of PSV Eindhoven, who lost to AZ.
The title rivals were locked on 80 points before kick-off in the penultimate round of matches but PSV’s slip up at AZ, where they lost 1-0, hands the Champions League semi-finalists a virtually unassailable advantage at the top.
Goals from Klaas Jan Huntelaar, Donny van de Beek and a double from Dusan Tadic sealed the comfortable win for Ajax, who now have a three-point lead and a 14-goal better goal difference going into the final round of games.
Ajax go to De Graafschap on Wednesday and will officially be crowned champions afterwards, while PSV host Heracles.
