Real face fight for Pepe
Real Madrid will reportedly battle Manchester United for the signature of Lille forward Nicolas Pepe this summer.
Pepe, 23, has turned heads with his superb displays for Les Dogues this season, scoring 20 top-flight goals and starting all 36 of the club’s Ligue 1 matches.
The man capped 11 times by Ivory Coast has also contributed 12 assists and it seems as though he is now in demand across Europe.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made it clear that he will clear the decks in the off-season and try to add creativity to his ranks and Pepe appears to fit the bill, but Real chief Zinedine Zidane is also an admirer of the French-born ace.
Jose Mourinho, who has managed both United and Real, is a big fan and feels Pepe would be a great addition to any club.
‘Everyone knows that he is a quality player, in the making,’ he told L’Equipe.
‘He played almost every game, and was decisive for his team.’
